Birds

This must be the "hang out" for the birds...

Old Pictures

I was searching through some of Megan's pictures and stumbled upon this one of a cool building downtown from Bagby...

Happy Monday

Well, today has been a wonderful day! I hope you have had as good a day as I have. Megan took this picture recently at a temporary carnival in a parking lot close to home. I thought it just looked fun...perfect for today!

Cingular Wireless

This is the top of the largest Cingular store in Houston. Right now they are remodeling...I'm excited to see how it looks when it is finished.
I hope you had a great weekend!

The Aftermath of Lunch

On Friday I had a late lunch at Camille's...this is all that was left from the 12pm eaters...

Buildings are Disappearing

Friday it was the same thing...Buildings looked as if they were disappearing.

Pea Soup

I took this picture on Thursday morning in line at Whataburger for Breakfast. Thursday and Friday morning (and in the evening) we were driving through what we like to call "Pea Soup."

Here is a random, cluttered view of downtown.
Hope you had a great Wednesday!

And My Favorite...

I saw this on the way home today...I just had to take a picture... ;-)

For Monday (President's Day)

Because President Bush (let's not discuss the President here) is a Texan, and Monday was President's Day...I thought a picture of the Flag would be appropriate.

Picture for Sunday

This is a picture of DriverSelect...a somewhat new facility here in town. I'm guessing it's alot like CarMax. To read more click here.

Picture for Saturday

I feel like we owe you a few pictures for being away lately so here goes...
This actually is a sign on I-45 that helps you make it through traffic. This one specifically talks about travel times, but sometimes they discuss road closures (which is a nightmare here in Houston), and sometimes they even mention Amber Alerts.

200 Posts!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. We went out of town this weekend, and I am just now getting my bearings.
This is our 200th Post! I just love this billboard in town with Thomas Edison on it. It reads, "On the 10,000th try there was light. Optimism...Pass it on."
Be optimistic today!

One More Day...

I decided to post one more picture in the spirit of Valentine's Day! I have seen billboards and these signs scattered around town lately. Usually the caption reads, "The Right Store for the One You Adore." That one statement alludes to several things here in February in Houston.
"The Right Store" is Kroger's slogan...one of the major grocery stores in town. "For the One You Adore" obviously is for Valentine's Day. Finally, the man and the boy in the picture are wearing western wear. February and March are the months of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
(If you don't know much about the HLSR, check it out...it is a very big deal here in Houston!)
Oh! By the way, tomorrow will be Houston Daily Photo's 200th Post!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Beautiful Sky

I couldn't help but notice the beautiful sky this afternoon during rush hour. The cold weather is making it's way in now...

Nails

The last time I got my nails done, I took this picture of one of the nail ladies doing a manicure. I need to get another manicure soon. It is very relaxing, and I do enjoy it.

Skipper's

Last Sunday we went and ate at Skipper's in Clear Lake. They serve authentic Greek food and regular American breakfast food. Strange combination...but it was very good. I like the "sign" on the fence.

Metro Bus

I'm not sure if I have shown you this picture before or not...but I stumbled upon it while searching for pictures on the computer. This in one of our Metro buses on Westheimer headed for Downtown.
Enjoy your weekend!

The Cricket Monster

I saw this new Cricket Store (and their monster) yesterday on I-45. Crickets have been popping up all over town recently. In Texas specifically, they are showing up in Austin, Bryan/College Station, El Paso, here in Houston, San Antonio, and Temple/Kileen. It seems to be a good deal too...
For $50 you get:
UNLIMITED: Local Calls
UNLIMITED: U.S. Long Distance Calls (excluding Alaska)
UNLIMITED: Text, Picture, & IM
UNLIMITED: Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting & 3-Way Calling
UNLIMITED: Mobile Web
UNLIMITED: Coverage in all Cricket markets
"Use your phone everyday, anytime and your monthly bill will always be predictable." Sounds good to me.
Does anyone use Cricket as a cell phone provider?

"I think I Found It!"

I took this picture of these guys today after I got home from work. The dog's name is Max...I only know that because when he gets loose almost everyone in the house comes out yelling, "Come here, Max...Come here, boy!"
I couldn't help but wonder what they were searching for today!

Urban Harvest

Ashley has painted another great painting from Houston! Here she discusses Urban Harvest, which is a, "nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through gardening education." As you know, Houstonians aren't the healthiest of folk in any way shape or form.

One of the great things about Urban Harvest is that they sponsor the Farmer's Market here in town. I just love the Farmer's Market! I will have to show you that one of these days...

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Happy Birthday, Aunt Shelly!

Yesterday was my fabulous Aunt's Birthday! We had lunch at Bonnie's on Saturday to celebrate, and we had a great time! I ate at the soup and salad bar...it was just great!
Happy Monday!
*I just switched over to the "New" Blogger...BAD IDEA! The log-in page has fits trying to redirect and it has been almost impossible to post the last few days. Anyone else having trouble with this? Any suggestions?

Welcome to Robeks!

Robeks is the most amazing smoothie place! There is only one in Houston and luckily it is about 5 minutes from my work. I get a smoothie for lunch usually 2 or 3 times a week...they are the best. Here you see one of the workers preparing my Passionfruit Cove! I wonder which smoothie you would get...
Hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

What Really Annoys Me...

It's that time again! I just love Theme Days. If you don't know, every month on the 1st the Daily Photo Family posts a theme picture, and February's theme is something that annoys you in your city. I can think of a few things that really annoy me about Houston...traffic...hot weather...mosquitos...but after awhile you get used to it and it doesn't bother you anymore.

The thing that really annoys me though, something I refuse to get used to, is that it seems like everywhere you look construction workers are bulldozing something. There used to be a big medical facility in the picture above, but today there is nothing but big piles of mud and workers. I appreciate the fact that most things are modern in the city, but there are very few things here in Houston that are old and historic. It is sad really. The good news is that Mayor Bill White (I just heard this on the news this morning in fact) is working on passing a bill that would protect historic buildings/homes in Houston from being demolished.

52 Daily Photo sites are participating in the February 1st theme, "What really annoys me about my city." Please use the links below to visit them. Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.
