Firewood For Sale

I have been wanting to show you this all winter...and I finally got a good shot of it today! Every year when it gets cold, this same man sells alteast three different types of firewood. It is good for when you bar-b-que, and also for the fireplace. He usually is there way into the night with his little pit burning to keep warm.

Maybe I can get a good shot of fireworks tonight to show you next week! Please be careful tonight...and have a great time!

Happy New Year, everyone!

This is a mirror in BJ's Restaurant and Brewery that I showed you yesterday. Isn't it just beautiful? Maybe I am easily amused...but I just thought it was lovely!

I hope you enjoyed your Saturday!

Here is a shot of the dining area at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery in the Clear Lake area. I have been here a couple of times...and let me tell you...their pizza is amazing!

If you are ever in the area and are in the mood for pizza, BJ's is the place to go.

Drexler's

I have never been to Drexler's...but as you can see it is World Famous! For my Basketball-Challenged friends, Drexler's Bar-B-Que is named after/owned by Clyde Drexler, former Houston Rockets basketball star. I plan to eat here after a Rocket's game one day soon.

To read more about Clyde Drexler go here.
To read more about the Rockets go here.

By the way, the Rockets won a very important game last night! Way to go, guys!

Spike!

This is our cousin's new puppy that we got to see on Christmas day. Isn't he cute? I forget how old he is, but he is young as you can see. His name is Spike cause his hair sticks strait up after he wakes up from a nap. Well, I hope this picture has made you smile and I hope it brightened up your day. Have a great day and God Bless.

Traffic on Vacation

One reason I really like the Christmas break (a very minor one I will admit) is that the 4:00 - 7:00 pm Rush Hour traffic is put on hold...if only for a little bit. I took this picture of I-45 before Christmas...before everyone was off...and as you can see there are lights for days.

I worked today, and I must say traffic was GREAT! I wonder how long the pleasant traffic will last...

It's Here!

Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus

"1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.

4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. "

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Christmas Eve

I can't believe it's almost here!

Today we went to church and heard the children's, youth, and adult choirs sing a beautiful 'O Holy Night' arrangement. (Listen to Pavarotti sing it now... O Holy Night (Minuit Chrétien) by Luciano Pavarotti) Now, we are going to head out to Cracker Barrel for lunch with my aunt and uncle. Then at 5:30 we are having a candlelight service at church, which is a great Christmas tradition that is just lovely. Finally, we will then head to my Grandma's for a great meal and just a great time with family.

What are you doing today?

Christmas Shopping

I love all of the Christmas decorations around town. I haven't quite finished my Christmas shopping...alright, alright, I've only bought one gift so far. How's that for procrastination?

I hope you haven't procrastinated as long as I have.

I work at the nursery at my church every Wednesday and Sunday night, and this mini village is setup in the lobby of it for all of the kids to see. It is pretty amazing. I just love the detail. Tomorrow I will show you just how "mini" it is...

Enjoy your Saturday evening!

Recognize This Tree?

Hi every one!! I am out of school for Christmas Break!! It just now clicked that I'm on vacation for two weeks. I, like my sister, have been studying, and shopping at the Galleria, but only once! Ok twice, but the first time was before finals and the second was my birthday so, that's understandable, right? He he. I LOVE Christmas!! Every one have a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Red & Blue Umbrellas

This is a hurried photo, but these umbrellas make me smile when I see them. What can I say...I'm easily amused...

I see these umbrellas on Travis coming home everyday. These umbrellas (I'm guessing) are for lunch for the employees of the dull grey and black building next to them. I think these umbrellas would fit better in a park somewhere, under beautiful trees, where kids are are too excited to eat, and have to be forced to sit down under them and eat their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...but hey, it's refreshing to see these in the city too!

Not in the Mood to Cook?

After you have done all of your grocery shopping for the next few weeks, you can stop and eat at the little cafe' outside of Central Market. See the smoke from the grill? It smelled really good too. Alright...now I'm hungry!

This 'Central Market Series' was inspired by the Houston Chronicle's Ultimate Houston Magazine. Central Market was voted the "Ultimate" Gourmet Grocery Store back in October.

Every so often I hope to show you bits from this list of the Ultimate here in Houston!

MaMmOtH Cheese!

Recently, Central Market had this 12,000 lb. lump of cheese on display/for sale. I don't know who needs 5 tons of Wisconsin Cheddar...but if you do...Central Market is the place for you!

Did you know you can find this many different types of bottled water right here in Houston? Right at Central Market!

(Fiji is probably my favorite!)

Off to watch 'Scrooged'!

METRORail

Here is the line for the METRORail downtown. I've never been on it, but when it first started working there were a ton of accidents associated with the Rail. Read this article...you will be shocked!

Lady Art

A few weekends ago Lu and I went to a wedding at the Omni Houston Hotel close to the Galleria. (According to Yahoo! Travel, this Omni ranks #13 out of all Houston hotels!) I took this picture in the lobby of the hotel while we were waiting for the reception to start. I thought these Lady Pictures were really cute...and I liked the potted reeds as well.
Good Night!

Santa on Skates

Here is another cool shot from the Galleria. I'm not big on ice skating, but I really enjoy the idea of it. Ice skating is just one of those things you think about in the winter...around the holiday season.

(This is completely off topic, but I can't wait for this week to be over with so I can enjoy the holiday season! This is Finals week...pray for me! I'm excited to have more time and energy to put into Houston Daily Photo.)

Christmas at the Galleria

Today Megan and a few of her friends are shopping at the Galleria with her birthday money...while I study for finals! This is the second time everyone has gone to the Galleria without me. After finals next week I will have to go up and see the beautiful Christmas tree in the center of the Ice Skating Rink.

See you tomorrow!

Scrooge Cows

Sorry if you missed us yesterday. I ate some terrible Chinese food (it hurts for me to even think about it still) and it made me so sick last night. I was definitely not in a picture-posting mood.

Anyway, today we have a really cool billboard that is located on I-45 heading south. This is a Chick-Fil-A billboard with their anti-burger cow mascots. Instead of saying, "Bah-Humbug" like Scrooge, they say, "Bah-Hamburgr." Cute/clever, wouldn't you say?

I hope atleast you had a Happy Friday!
